Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. Should you have any additional questions feel free to call us at 1-800-315-0626, our representatives are standing by ready to assist you!
How much does your program cost?
With BestDebtNegotiator.com there are absolutely no upfront fees or hidden costs. What you pay depends upon what we can save you. At settlement time, you simply pay a percentage of the amount we save you.
How do I know if I qualify?
Nearly all of the consumers who inquire into our program get accepted. It is important to understand that by enrolling in this program we will work hard to reach a settlement for you, but enrollment will adversely affect your credit score. Your financial status will be reviewed by your consultant for a preliminary acceptance decision, but the final decision will come down to the underwriter in our cooperate office who will receive your enrollment packet and make the ultimate qualification decision within two working days. If, by chance, you do not qualify, an underwriter will contact you directly to discuss your financial situation.
What debts will qualify?
We do not accept car loans, home mortgage loans, government-backed student loan debt, or any secured loan debt. While we are able to accept most unsecured debt, business debt will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Tax debts and IRS debts are not accepted.
Can I only pay off a few unsecured accounts?
As mentioned before, once you take that first step towards financial freedom and enroll in our programs, your creditors will take notice. That includes all of your creditors. If one creditor sees that you are paying off other accounts, they will step in and make the entire process more difficult. In the end, you will receive a better debt settlement by including all of you creditor accounts.
What do I tell my creditors who still call?
Creditors will always call, but it’s knowing how to deal with them that is your greatest strength. Included in your enrollment package will be helpful instructions and tips for dealing with creditors. You will also be provided with a creditor call line in which you are to refer all creditors to. This is when the negotiation begins. We only ask that you do not discuss your settlement options with the creditor. Let our experienced debt negotiators work that angle for you.
When the creditors call, should I tell them I’m working on it?
This is definitely not advised. While we are not attorneys, and therefore cannot provide legal advice, it is in your best interest not to discuss the program or monthly deposits with the creditor. In our history of debt settlements, we have found that the more the client speaks with the creditors, the harder it becomes for the negotiation to reach a reasonable settlement amount. Please, simply refer them to our creditor line where our experienced negotiators can do the work for you.
What am I responsible for?
You are responsible for one thing; making those monthly deposits into the account that we set up for you. You should redirect all creditor phone calls to us, and report any harassment via email or snail mail. This program is strictly dependent upon the fact that you do not make payments to your credit card accounts and allow them to go delinquent. If this is something that doesn’t sit well with you, then debt settlement programs may not be the route you want to take.
What do I do when the creditor becomes aggressive?
As mentioned, there will be suggestions on how to handle your creditors included in your enrollment package. It is also highly advised that you redirect all calls to our creditor line. Feel free to contact our friendly customer service staff at any time with creditor harassment questions.
Can you give me legal advice?
We are not attorneys, and therefore cannot offer any legal advice. If you are in need of legal advice, you should contact your attorney. Our staff members are allowed to discuss the program, benefits, and settlement options with you.
How can I contact you?
Our friendly customer service staff is always available to answer your debt settlement questions. The contact number is included in your enrollment packet, as well as email contact information.
Where do I make my monthly deposit?
You have two options. Our clients have found that by using the account that we set up for them it dramatically increases their success rate. After setup fees are paid, we will setup this account your monthly deposits will accrue. However, you do have the option to use your own local account if you chose.
Am I able to deposit more than my monthly scheduled payment?
Absolutely! The quicker that you can build up that account, the quicker you will get out of debt. We will work on the debt settlement amount and that faster that you are able to pay-off that amount, the faster you will be financially free.
Exactly when do the debt negotiators start negotiating?
This is dependent upon the amount of money in your account, and the amount of debt that you have. When our experienced debt negotiators feel like the timing is right, and there is enough money in your account, they will begin the negotiation process. Bear in mind that this is a marathon, not a sprint. It took more than a few months to get so deeply in debt, and it could take more than a few months for our negotiators to help get you out of debt. The longer a credit card lingers without attention, the easier it is for our negotiators to work out a lower percentage settlement. In this game, patience is a virtue. While you may have more than enough in your account to start covering the lesser of your credit card debt, our negotiators will hold out for a better settlement on the larger accounts. This will positively affect you in the long run. Specifically, 6-12 months is the average time frame that most negotiations begin. With that said, it is also not unusual for your account to get settled during the last eight months of the 30-month program. Just keep telling yourself that financial freedom is just over the horizon.
Will interest on penalties fees still be charged to my credit card?
Unfortunately, this is something that would happen whether you are enrolled in our program or not. Creditors will always add any fees to your account that they can get away with. Keep in mind that our program fee is based on the amount we save you, not the balance.
What guaranteed results can you offer?
We absolutely guarantee that your monthly deposit into your savings account will not change. Of course, it is up to you whether you chose to deposit a larger amount every month. Each account is based on the individual and the creditor, so the estimated time frame is extremely flexible. If you settle before the 30-months, which quite often happens, you pay-off your debt and are completely free. Whatever is left over in your savings account if yours to do with as you wish.
Why can’t I get the same results and do this on my own?
Most creditors simply will not negotiate with consumers in the same way that they will with experienced negotiators. In most cases, if you go the solo route you will not receive the low settlement amount that our negotiators can get for you. Besides that, you will continually be hounded by harassing creditors who will aggressively wear you down until any settlement amount sounds good. Our debt negotiators are trained to handle aggressive creditors, know what a good settlement amount is, and out program offers you an effective way to save money for the pay-off.
Why will this program adversely affect my credit score?
In order for this process to work, and for you to obtain the best possible settlement, we ask that you do not make monthly credit card payments. This will show as delinquent payments on your credit report, which will remain on your report for seven years. However, upon closing and settling your account we require the creditor to agree is writing that your debt has been paid in full, with no further obligation on your part. This letter is what you will be able to use to update your credit report of your creditor fails to. Ultimately, our goal is to get you out of debt.
What should I do with my credit cards?
In order to stay financially free, we recommend that if you have a zero balance card you keep it for emergencies, plane or hotel reservations only and pay cash as you go. Our debt settlement program should make it easier for you to pay cash as you go.
I need a credit card for my business, though. What do I do?
We suggest you open a secured card. This type of credit card will only allow you to spend the deposit you put down on it. If you reach your spending limit, the card will not allow you to spend anymore. This is a great option to stay on top of your finances. You can also use a debit or store valued card for situations in which you may need a credit card.
I do not receive a steady paycheck. Do I still qualify?
Even if your income is irregular, our friendly customer service staff will simply take your income over the past year and find the average to determine what you should be able to deposit into your account every month.
I have a co-singer on the accounts I want to settle. Do they need to approve?
Yes, your cosigner must give written approval in order for you to enroll in our debt settlement program. By enrolling you will also affect his/her credit score, so it is required that you have their permission. You may enroll in the program by not including the joint account, unless you live in a “common law” state where the partner must approve.
What do I do if I have automatic withdrawal from my checking/savings account to pay off creditors?
We suggest that you close the account that you have automatic withdrawal from and reopen another account. It would seem reasonable to simply put a stop to any withdrawal from your creditor for $30, but the creditor will simply try for $29 or $31.

Coming from an unbelieving poor family were we did not have very much, the only time my parents went into debt was to buy luxuaries that we really could have done without. I do not see renting as dead money as it is giving you somewhere to live. We are now debt free other than the love we owe others and of course the debt we owe Jesus Christ. Only the mercy of God has allowed us to do this.
I have about 18k in credit card debt and am now unemployed. I have around 50k in my 401k. Since I’ll be paying taxes on the 401k if I were to start using it at retirement age, what’s the difference if I take the tax hit now and pay off expensive credit cards with their interest rates?
It is great to have the ability to read a good quality blog with useful details on topics that many are interested on. The fact that the data indicated are all first hand on live experiences even help more. Go on doing what you do as we like reading your work.
As a Freshman, I am always exploring online for articles that can help me get further ahead.
I like the first point you made there, but I am not sure I could reasonably apply that in a contructive way.
I am definitely bookmarking this page and sharing it with my friends. Well done!!!
After I lost my job I have been dealing with evil debt collectors. I almost fell for some of the debt consolidation and debt settlement scams, I came across http://howigotmyselfoutofdebt.org they dont sell anything. I learned alot how those companies operated and what I should do. Don’t fall into another trap.
If I were to start a blog I hope I’d be able to provide a post half as enlightened and insightful as this one. Keep it up!
